First Day Items and Info:
  •    Name tag attached to school bag.
  •    School bag should be large enough to fit a very big book.
  •   This year, we are following the School’s designated nutrition breaks:  morning snack (fruit, water in a reusable container, crackers, muffin, cereal bar, etc.); lunch (main course, water in a reusable container, fruit/veggies); afternoon snack (see morning snack ideas).   Sending your child to school with a  reusable water bottle for snacks and lunches (instead of juice boxes) is a healthy choice for your child. Using containers that your child can manipulate independently would be of benefit.
  •    Please note we may have students with Life-threatening allergies to nuts and nut products.  These items are not permitted and will be returned home.  Please always read product labels carefully before sending food to school.
  •    Indoor running shoes which stay at school for the whole year (Velcro or slip-on style please).  Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept lace-up shoes because of time constraints.
  •    Extra clothes – full set of spare clothes (t-shirt, pants, underwear, socks) in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name on it.  No shorts please.
  •    Please remember to label all of your child’s clothing, running shoes, boots, and containers.
  •    In order to avoid any problems, please keep your child’s toys at home.
  •    ALWAYS dress your child for outside play, which happens daily.  (No umbrellas on rainy days please!)
  •    Your child will be given a Notetote, inside will be a communication book.  The notetote is used for home/school communication.  Please make sure to check the notetote every night.  If you wish to write the teacher a note please write it in the communication book and leave it open.  We will check communication books that have been left open in the morning.  Similarly if we have written a note we will leave the communication book open in the notetote.
  •    Due to allergy concerns, NO edible birthday treats will be permitted.
  •    For rest time, we are recommending a small blanket or a small yoga mat (not both) which will stay at school. No pillows or stuffies please.

To get updates on our class check our blog:  http://stgeorgek3.blogspot.com/

The school will provide the basic supplies that your child will need.  A charge of $40.00 per student that can be paid electronically at https://ocsb.schoolcashonline.com is asked to help cover all other needs such as mailbags and other special school related activities that help bring the curriculum alive to our classrooms.  Annually, your contribution allows for one bus per class for a field trip. Other activities such as Scientists in the School, Production of Cinderella, and Little Rays Reptiles, to name a few that have been supported by this student levy.  Please be aware that no child has ever been, nor will be, excluded from an excursion or special event.

Also the following items, for classroom use, are requested to be sent to school:
  1.  1 Boxes of Kleenex
  2. 1 large container of Hand Sanitizer
  3. 1 box of large Ziploc bags
  4. 1 container of playdough (see recipe on our blog)
  5. 1 box of plastic forks
  6. 1 box of straws
  7. 1 box of J-Cloths washcloths
Together we can make this year a positive experience for your child. Please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns.  Close parent/teacher communication during the year will ensure success for your child.

Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Team
