Metacognition means the ability to think and moderate one's thinking. Of course, this seems like a lofty concept in K but it's very important for forming independent life-long learners. Mrs. Neill and I have been working hard on getting the students to reflect about what they are learning, how they are learning it and what comes next. One of the tools we have started using is Voicethread. I mentioned it in an earlier post where I explained one example of how we have been using Voicethread. I'd like to share a few others with you so you can see metacognition in K!
