We read a story based on the fable of the ant and the grasshopper. First, we discussed fiction and non-fiction books because we had read a few insect related books with stories (fiction) and some other books with facts (non-fiction). We decided that this book was fiction because it had a story and more artistic illustrations.
Then, we read the story in small groups. We noticed that the story had rhythm and rhymes.
Today, we read the story altogether and Mme Oliver made a connection to another story, the parable of the prodigal son. We decided to read that story to see what they had in common.
