I spy with my little eye....

Before Christmas there were a lot of our little friends who enjoyed making walkie talkies, secret gadgets. Being that it was Christmas time, we decided to see if they would still be interested in all of this when they came back from the break. Sure enough, the first day back they went right away to making and creating new gadgets that they thought of while they were away.

First thing we did was talk about who had these gadgets. They said spies; we talked about what a spy was and what they needed. They decided that they needed a Spy Headquarters. Luckily our SmartBoard had recently been installed so we were able to do some much needed creative construction.

An ECE from one of our other kindergarten rooms also very generously allowed us to borrow her "spy kit". They have loved using the binoculars, magnifying glass (which we have been using for I spy) but the most popular item that came out of the bag was the fingerprint powder. The children learnt that there are four different kinds of fingerprints: the loop, the arch, the whorl, and the mixed fingerprint. One of our students went around to every child asking for their finger prints. Along with a group of friends, they looked and decided who had what kind of print. They then added all of the prints up and figured out which print was the most common in our class, and which was the least common.
