2-D & 3-D Shapes!

This past month the K3 class has been working on our Geometry. Your children have been learning to recognize 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional shapes. They have made robots out of only shapes and asked what kind of shapes they had used and how many of the shapes there were.

The key learning goals that they have met for this unit are :
  • Use language accurately to describe the position of objects (for ex. the ball is on chair.)
  • Recognize and describe 3-dimensional objects and 2-dimensional shapes.
  • Sort and build with 3-dimensional objects and 2-dimensional shapes.
  • Recognize 3-dimensional objects and 2-dimensional shapes in the environment.
Things to do at home to keep their memories sharp can be asking them to find a specific shape around the house. We did this during circle and play time. ex. rectangular prism- kleenex box, square- a piece of paper, a sphere- the globe.
