Playing with blocks is learning!

 

Playing with blocks is super fun and the students learn a surprising amount at this center. We have been having students make plans before they start building. We have a class full of architects

 

Today a trio built a really high tower and said it looked like the CN tower. A teacher exclaimed that it looked more like the Eiffel tower. We looked at pictures of the Eiffel tower and some students shared their prior knowledge of the Eiffel tower ("My mom went up it and under it"). The teacher then asked the students if they could build a tower that looked like the CN tower. We looked at pictures, made a plan and our final product looked pretty close.
